I was very pleased to meet so many members of the British community in Sal and Boavista during my visit earlier this month. I’m delighted that following my previous visit to Sal in December we have been able to act on our intention to appoint an additional Honorary Consul for Sal and Boavista and am very pleased that we have managed to appoint someone as good as Tino Mosso.
As you know the purpose of my visit this month, with Claudinette Davies, the Consular Assistant at the Embassy, was to introduce Tino in his new role to the Mayors, Police Chiefs, Tour operators and resident British communities on both islands. Thanks to all of you who joined us at the Marine Club or the Morabeza Beach Club for a drink. As I didn’t go into any great detail about Tino’s role, and for the benefit of those who were not able to join us, I thought it might be useful to set out briefly what an Honorary Consul does, i.e what Tino can do and what he can’t. I hope you find the attached one-page note useful (see below).
